Center for Equity and Inclusion
The Center for Equity and Inclusion (CEI) will host a film screening of “De Aqui/De Alla,” or “From Here/From There” on Oct. 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will also include a Q&A with actor Luis Cortes Romero, who plays the main protagonist. Students can register on Dubnet to find more information and the location.
On Oct. 21, there will be a lunch and learn Samoan Tattoo workshop from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at SNO 170. Students will join the Pacific Islander Student Alliance (PISA) to learn about the history and art of Samoan tattoos. Registration can be found on Dubnet.
With that, the CEI is celebrating Latine Heritage Month now through Nov. 2 with their ofrenda frame decorating to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. The frame decorating takes place every day from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., and students can place their frame on the community altar in SNO 150. More information can be found on Dubnet.
Career Fair
UW Tacoma’s biannual career fair will take place on Oct. 21-22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair for engineering and technology students is on Oct. 21, and all industries will happen on Oct. 22. Students can use the career fair to make connections with employers and learn about available jobs and internship opportunities. The fair will be held in William Phillip Hall (WPH). Employers at the career fair often accept resumes, so students are encouraged to bring copies to share with potential employers.
