Ten Movies to Rock Your Summer

Summer is almost here, and with it comes the summer blockbuster season. Big action movies are everywhere, as well as sequels and the occasional original movie tossed in. There’s a lot to look forward to, so here are ten movies we hope will rock the summer:

JURASSIC WORLD | JUNE 12TH

The fourth movie in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World promises action, thrills, and, best of all, new dinosaurs. Starring Chris Pratt, it will be released June 12th.

INSIDE OUT | JUNE 19TH

The newest offering from Pixar, Inside Out follows the story of a girl named Riley and her emotions, including Amy Poehler as Joy, as she adjusts to a new life. With cute animation and a funny cast, it should be worth a watch when it hits theaters on June 19th.

TERMINATOR GENISYS | JULY 1ST

The latest entry in the Terminator franchise looks like it’ll be bigger than ever, with more time travel and action. With new actors like Emilia Clarke and returning actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator Genisys should make a splash when it hits theaters July 1st.

MINIONS | JULY 10TH

After two Despicable Me movies, the popular side characters finally get their own movie. The Minions are on the hunt for a villain to serve, and Sandra Bullock’s Scarlet Overkill is the biggest villain around. The family-friendly animated comedy hits theaters July 10th.

ANT-MAN | JULY 17TH

If you’re a Marvel movie fan, then you’re probably already excited over Ant-Man, the latest Marvel superhero to get the big screen treatment. Starring Paul Rudd as the tiny superhero who packs a big punch, the movie crawls into theaters July 17th.

TRAINWRECK | JULY 17TH

If, on the other hand, you’re sick of all the superhero movies, Trainwreck may be the movie for you. Written by and starring Amy Schumer, who has her own popular Comedy Central show, Trainwreck promises to be a raunchy comedy. It hits theaters July 17th.

PIXELS | JULY 24TH

Of all the movies on this list, Pixels is the one which is most likely to end up being terrible, as star Adam Sandler is very hit and miss. However, the concept that gamers have to save the world from aliens whose attacks are based on early arcade games is a lot of fun. Let’s hope that the movie lives up to its potential when it is released July 24th.

DARK PLACES | AUGUST 7TH

Based on the second novel by the author of Gone Girl, Dark Places is another twisted tale, starring Charlize Theron as Libby Day. Libby, the survivor of a family massacre twenty-five years earlier, goes back to the scene of the crime with a group of people who believe that all is not as it seems. The thriller comes to theaters August 7th.

FANTASTIC FOUR | AUGUST 7TH

This movie reboots the Fantastic Four film franchise, which is based on the Marvel comics series. There has already been controversy around the casting of Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, so hopefully the movie can be good enough to silence his critics. Fantastic Four flies into theaters August 7th.

CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON: THE GREEN LEGEND | AUGUST 28TH

The sequel to the popular 2000 film, The Green Legend is unique in that it will premiere on Netflix as well as in selected theaters. Expect more amazing martial arts action throughout the movie, released online and in theaters August 28th.
