UW Board of Regents Begins Spring Search for the New President
The search is on for the new UW President. After the surprise resignation of UW’s current president, Michael Young, the university announced that they would remain
steadfast and assured the UW community that this wouldn’t affect the university’s ability to move forward. Dr. Ana Mari Cauce was designated Interim UW President, effective March 2.
Recently, the UW Board of Regents selected UW Bothell Chancellor Emeritus, Kenyon Chan, as chair and regents Kristi Blake, Joanne Harrell, Jeremy Jaech and Rogelio Riojas as Regent members of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee.
Over the next few months, Regents plan to host a series of Town Hall meetings to gather input from students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends on criteria for selecting the next UW president.
Monday, May 4, at UW Seattle’s HUB Lyceum there will be an undergraduate open forum from 3:00-4:30pm, followed by a graduate session from 5:00-6:30pm. Tuesday May 5, UW Bothell will host the forum at the North Creek Events Center with a student focused session from 3:00- 4:30pm and a staff/faculty session from 5:00-6:30pm. Lastly, on Monday, May 11, UW Tacoma will hold an open forum in the Jane Russell Commons from 3:00- 4:30pm for students, and 5:00-6:30pm for staff and faculty.
