An Introduction to ASUWT

Welcome Dawgs—hope you had an enjoyable summer! We are the Associated Students of UW Tacoma (ASUWT), your student government. As your Executive Board and Senate, we have been working diligently to represent your student voice. We are a dynamic team with a diverse array of responsibilities. In Autumn Quarter, we are tackling a variety of projects and we hope that you would join us. We are organizing our annual Rock the Vote, an event where students can meet elected officials and candidates and learn about issues that directly affect our community. We are also in the process of appointing students to a diverse range of committees (see sidebar) and confirming Senators for Business and Undeclared seats. In addition, we will be at New Student Orientation (9/21- 25), Convocation (10/2), Hot Dawgs with the Top Dawgs (10/7), and Involvement Fair (10/30). Sophie Nop, our ASUWT President, is actively working on tri-campus initiatives that affect UW Tacoma, such as a Diversity Task Force, the UW presidential search, the Student Code of Conduct, and attending UW Regents board meetings and Washington Student Association assemblies. We look forward to an exciting year serving our UWT community with gumption. (Apologies for our weird vocabulary.)
