2021 has released a plethora of great shows for consumers to watch. Netflix, one of the many streaming services to watch these shows, has done a great job including both animated and non-animated shows to their catalog. They especially have done well in the most recent months with the release of their exclusive shows, which have taken the world by surprise.

Arcane 

From the developers of “League of Legends” comes “Arcane,” a story about Piltover, the city of progress that houses people of high status and inventors, and the Undercity of Zaun, a dark mirror of Piltover in which it is toxic and dangerous. It follows a diverse cast which includes important characters from both Piltover and the Undercity. The great thing about this show is that even though it has characters and elements from “League of Legends,” you don’t have to know any of that to enjoy the story, as “Arcane” unfolds in its three-act style show. Komi-san Can’t Communicate 

Imagine a world where you can’t talk – this is what Komi-san goes through on a daily basis in this new animated show. “Komi-san Can’t Communicate” depicts the struggles of having a speaking disability and shows the main character trying to overcome it little by little. If you enjoy heartwarming stories and an enjoyable cast, “Komi-san Can’t Communicate” is perfect for you. This show is currently airing on Netflix with new episodes weekly.

Blue Period

Have you ever questioned who you really are? Are you yourself, or are you what others want you to be? The show “Blue Period” follows the main character, Yatora Yaguchi, and shows the beauty and hardships that come along with finally finding something you are passionate for. Before finding his passion, Yatora was someone who tried to fit into other people’s ideas of him, whether it be the good student his mother wanted, or the delinquent his friends saw in him. After the realization that he enjoys making art, he finds himself doing things not for the sake of how others viewed him, but for himself. If you like shows that revolve around character growth and development, “Blue Period” is a show that was made for you. This show is currently airing on Netflix with new episodes weekly.

Demon Slayer Season 2 

After it took the whole world by storm in 2019, the long-awaited season two of “Demon Slayer” has finally arrived. Fans earlier this year had a movie for the Mugen Train Arc from the manga, and it quickly became one of the most successful movies to come out in history. Season two of “Demon Slayer” consists of two acts. The first of the two will be a seven-episode recap of the Mugen Train Arc, which was the main plot of the “Mugen Train” film released earlier in the year. The show will give fans who have not watched the film the story they may have missed. The second arc will be the Entertainment District Arc, which is brand new to everyone who only watches the show. While it’s not on Netflix just yet, if you are interested in “Demon Slayer” season two, which is currently airing, you can watch it through Crunchyroll, Funimation or Hulu.

Squid Game 

What would you do if you were in a severe amount of debt? Well, the main character of the popular Korean show “Squid Game” is invited to partake in the Squid Games, a game in which participants play children’s games to the death. The winner can earn 45.6 billion Korean won, which is roughly 38 million USD. While that is a life changing amount of money, it will come at a heavy price.
