A Night of Mischief, Magic, and Masquerade

Have some fun pretending to be someone else for the night and dance away at the upcoming Winter Masquerade Ball, on February 6 from 7-10 p.m. This will be the 7th annual winter ball to be organized, and will be held at the Broadway Center in Tacoma, home of Pantages Theater. This dance is open to students as well as the public, with $5 tickets for students and $10 tickets for anyone else.

The recommended attire is formal dressing with masks encouraged, but feel free to wear anything you’d like. Masks will also be offered at the dance, and two mask making events have been held on campus leading up to the ball.

Besides dancing, attendees can also enjoy a catered dessert bar, as well as a collaboration with Filipino American Student Association (FASA) for a casino night which will be held upstairs. Casino night will be run by Team Casino, an organization based in Seattle that has been working with UWT for the OSCARS for the past three years. Black Jack, Craps, and Roulettes will be offered and tickets can be won for prize drawings.

This dance will be the first dance on a Friday, since the changes in campus class scheduling. “I’m interested to see how successful the event turns out, considering our SAB signature events are typically during lunch hour. It’ll be fun!” Says SAB’s chair of board, Cristiana Ventura.

Last year’s turnout was around 120 people, and this year they are shooting for 180. Students are excited for the event, and are looking forward to it. Devin White, a senior in communications says, “I’m really excited about the masquerade theme, and seeing everyone in their getup”.

Get ready for a night of sparkling dresses, mysterious masks, mischievous fun, and magnificent dancing.
