SHIFT Happens in Tacoma

Any event where I am immediately offered gourmet candy upon entering is my kind of event. Tacoma SHIFT Happens was an event held at the Tacoma Convention Center for local businesses to get together and network amongst themselves and with the open public. As many as 138 vendors set up booths to showcase their wares and explain to potential customers what their business is all about. After receiving my complementary Almond Roca from Downtown Tacoma’s Brown & Haley, I spoke to people from the Poket Cuvs booth who showed me their new pocket decorations products. Blue Gate Consignment’s Terry DeJohnette showed me her favorite vintage garments.

Our friends from Feather & Oar and Poison Apple were there as well, showing off new items to the public. Stephen Jones of Black Anchor Workshop explained how he made his artfully crafted leather products. Donavan Wilson of a downtown Tacoma home décor company Basic Goods showed me his products emphasizing minimalist design and honest materials. It was truly humbling to talk to local business owners who shared their passion for their business. The goal of Tacoma SHIFT Happens is to foster connectivity in the community and to keep the flow of money local. Our small businesses need it.
